Avec la politique au centre des discussions dans ma famille, je m’y suis intéressée par mimétisme. Entraînée ensuite par une grande sœur dont j’ai toujours admiré l’esprit critique, j’ai connu mes premières mobilisations politiques dans les mouvements anti-globalisation du début des années 2000. Mon engagement s’est ensuite poursuivi dans des mouvements féministe, anti-raciste, pour un accès démocratique à l’éducation, ou pour la défense des productions culturelles. Croyant que l’action politique ne se limite pas aux partis politiques, je me suis intéressée aux mobilisations de l’ère contemporaine, et je me suis spécialisée dans l’étude des nouveaux mouvements sociaux pour rédiger mon mémoire de master en histoire sur ce sujet.

With politics at the center of discussions in my family, I became interested by mimicry. Trained by an older sister whose critical spirit I've always admired, I experienced my first political mobilizations in the anti-globalization movements of the early 2000s. My commitment then continued in feminist and anti-racist movements, for democratic access to education, and in defense of cultural productions. Believing that political action is not limited to political parties, I became interested in the mobilizations of the contemporary era, and specialized in the study of new social movements to write my Master's thesis in history on this subject.

Urban planning workshops for children (7 to 14 years old) / Ateliers d’urbanisme à destination des enfants (7 à 14 ans)

While I had already been interested in the notion of public space and urban planning through the works I had already made, I worked in 2019 for a civil engineering office. My task was to create a new website. As the goal of this new support was to offer a showcase for the completed and upcoming building projects, I had to do a lot of research. Once this work was completed, I continued to research the subject for my own interest. In 2021, I was hired by the construction company Steiner SA to manage the reception of the public in an experimental place of transitional urbanism. This place, installed on a three-hectare plot in the district of the international organizations in Geneva, functions as a cultural platform, offers a vegetable garden as well as a performance hall, and serves as a place for the participatory development of the architectural project. In this context, I developed urban planning workshops for children in order to show with a playful device (a model with objects and scenario proposals) that a place can have one or several uses, and that these uses evolve with time.

In order to explain this modification of uses, very characteristic examples like the Cité Radieuse in Marseille or the Lignon in Geneva are presented. The idea is also to explain the evolution of the work of the architect and the urban planner. In this case, how we have moved from a scheme where the building typology was going to create uses - the all-car and life in isolation, in the case of the examples cited -, to an approach where we think about the uses, and where we consult the (future) inhabitants and the local residents in order to build something that corresponds to the needs. The creation of this workshop for children was also a nod to the evolution of mentalities in the field of urban planning. Indeed, after two centuries of construction on an "industrial" scale, where technology and rationality were supposed to solve all the problems, the human being and its uses are coming back to the forefront and gradually removing the image of the architect as demiurge. The workshop was held on different occasions, notably at the Museum of Natural History in Geneva

Alors que je m’étais déjà intéressée à la notion d’espace public et d’aménagement urbain au travers des œuvres que j’avais déjà réalisées, j’ai travaillé en 2019 pour un bureau d’ingénieurs civils. Ma tâche consistait à créer un nouveau site internet. Comme le but de ce nouveau support était d’offrir une vitrine aux chantiers réalisés et à venir, j’ai dû énormément me documenter. Ce travail terminé, j’ai continué à effectuer des recherches sur le sujet pour mon propre intérêt. En 2021, j’ai été engagée par l’entreprise de construction Steiner SA afin de gérer l’accueil des publics dans un lieu expérimental d’urbanisme transitoire. Ce lieu, installé sur une parcelle de trois hectares dans le quartier des organisations internationales à Genève, fonctionne comme une plateforme culturelle, offre un jardin potager ainsi qu’une une salle de spectacle, et sert de lieu au développement participatif du projet architectural. Dans ce contexte, j’ai développé des ateliers d’urbanisme à l’attention des enfants afin de montrer avec un dispositif ludique (une maquette avec des objets et des propositions de scénarios) qu'un lieu peut avoir un ou plusieurs usages, et que ces usages évoluent avec le temps. 

Afin d’expliquer cette modification des usages, des exemples très caractéristiques comme la Cité Radieuse à Marseille ou le Lignon à Genève sont présentés. L’idée étant également d’expliquer l’évolution du travail de l’architecte et de l’urbaniste. Dans le cas présent, comment l’on est passé d’un schéma où la typologie du bâtiment allait créer des usages -le tout-voiture et la vie en vase clos, dans le cas des exemples cités-, à une approche où l’on réfléchit aux usages, et où l’on consulte les (futurs) habitants et les riverains afin de construire quelque chose qui correspondent aux besoins. La création de cet atelier à destination des enfants était également un clin d’œil à l’évolution des mentalités dans le domaine de l’urbanisme. En effet, après deux siècles de construction à échelle "industrielle", où la technologie et la rationalité devaient résoudre tous les problèmes, l'humain et ses usages reviennent sur le devant de la scène et éloigne peu à peu l'image de l'architecte démiurge. L’atelier s’est tenu à différentes occasions, notamment au Museum d’Histoire naturelle de Genève

Activism for gender equality / Activisme pour l’égalité femmes-hommes

A feminist for a long time without claiming it, gender equality has always been an important theme for me. Refractory to the idea that a woman could not do this or that because of her status as a woman, I have always tried to lead my life as I see fit. When I returned to Switzerland in 2017 after several years abroad, the conservatism and sexism around me blew up in my face. I saw this at work, in the street and in my private life. No space was spared. In 2018, when groups organized to prepare a big demonstration on June 14, 2019, I joined the movement without hesitation. As the movement persisted after that day of mobilization, I took part by organizing several public events, participating in podcasts or answering interviews between 2019 and 2021. As these feminist collectives lacked financial resources, I made my skills available by producing flyers and logos, coordinating a TV show, and organizing an exhibition and an evening debate.

Longtemps féministe sans le revendiquer, l’égalité femmes-hommes a toujours été un thème important pour moi. Réfractaire à l’idée qu’une femme ne pourrait pas faire telle ou telle chose en raison de son statut de femme, j’ai toujours essayé de mener ma vie comme bon me semble. En revenant en Suisse en 2017 après plusieurs années à l’étranger, le conservatisme et le sexisme ambiant m’ont sauté au visage. Je constatais cela au travail, dans la rue, dans ma vie privée. Aucun espace n’était épargné. En 2018, quand des groupes se sont organisés pour préparer une grande manifestation le 14 juin 2019, j’ai rejoint le mouvement sans hésiter. Le mouvement ayant persisté après cette journée de mobilisation, j’y ai participé en organisant plusieurs événements publics, en participant à des podcasts ou en répondant à des interviews entre 2019 et 2021. Ces collectifs féministes manquant de moyens financiers, j’ai mis à disposition mes compétences en réalisant des flyers, ou des logos, en coordonnant une émission TV, en organisant une exposition et une soirée débat.
